Star Trek: Enterprise's upcoming Mirror Universe two parter, "In a Mirror, Darkly" is set to recreate several interior sets from Star Trek: The Original Series, according to a report at SaveEnterprise.com.
As previously reported, the episodes are set to feature the re-appearance of the Constitution-class U.S.S. Defiant, after its disappeared into "another universe" in The Original Series episode "The Tholian Web". This other universe turns out to be the Mirror Universe (first seen in The Original Series episode "Mirror Mirror") and the 23rd century ship is captured by the Mirror Universe counterpart of Archer, who uses it to stage a coup against that universe’s version of Starfleet.
The site reports that several sets will be recreated for the two episodes including The Bridge (from the Science station clockwise to Main Viewscreen), Briefing Room with tabletop tri-screen, Rec Room, Crew Quarters, Corridors, Jefferies Tubes and Turbolift.
The script also calls for the Defiant's recreation in CGI to battle several mirror universe vessels including the NX-Class I.S.S. Avenger.
Although part of the Constitution-class bridge set was partly recreated for the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Relics" and a cgi version of the ship has previously been done for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's 30th Anniversary tribute to The Original series "Trials and Tribulations", this represents the largest reconstruction of the original sets so far and will be the first time this classic design has been seen in battle using modern special effects.
The original report is available at SaveEnterprise.com.
